Chocolate
By far the biggest Easter hazard for Dogs. If accidentally eaten please contact your vet immediately
Hot Cross Buns
Often contain raisins, sultanas or currants. All of these are very toxic to dogs and need an emergency visit to the vet if eaten
Roast Dinners & Bones
Cooked bones can splinter and cause choking or internal injuries. Fatty trimmings can upset your dog’s stomach and may trigger pancreatitis in sensitive dogs.
Mashed Potatoes
Potatoes themselves aren’t harmful, but Easter mash is usually loaded with butter, salt, milk, and sometimes garlic (all of which can cause digestive upset). It’s best to skip sharing this one.
✔️ Dog‑Safe Easter Foods They Can Enjoy
Dogs can have small amounts of:
Roast chicken
Roast turkey
Roast or grilled beef
Roast or grilled lamb
Plain cooked ham
Once the meat is plain with no seasoning or gravy, is boneless and the excess fat has been trimmed it is safe to give small amounts to your dog.
Vegetables like carrots, broccoli and cauliflower are also safe to give. Broccoli or cauliflower can be given frozen to add some enrichment to your dog’s treat time. If your doggo has more of a sweet tooth, apples, bananas, blueberries and pear are all safe to give once the skin/ core has been removed and avoid any pips!
