Ultimate Summer Survival Guide

Our Pawfect duo have rounded up all of their favourite ways to stay cool, happy and keep those tails wagging all Summer long! With some fabulous weather headed our way, it’s important to make sure our four legged pals are safe and comfortable.

Make sure that pet’s have access to shaded areas, to get out of the sun if they need to cool down.

Cool mats can be laid out indoor or outdoor to provide a cool surface for your doggo to lie on and help to keep them comfortable during warm summers. And if you are as fancy as Ms. Lexi, you can have your own fan facing your cool mat to provide the perfect cool down spot!

Did you know that you can get UV protective clothing for pets? Which is specially designed to help cool your pet too?

Particularly for dogs with a long or thicker coat, these can really help them to avoid becoming over heated. And they have the added bonus of looking very cute!

Doggie Paddling Pools are a great way to keep dogs cool. Dogs have 2 types of sweat glands and one of these is in their feet! As their paws are in contact with the warm ground it can be hard to cool down if they are too hot. Paddling pools are a great way to help to keep them cool and give their paws a break from the contact with the warm ground.

Enrichment toys can be used to encourage your dog to spend more time in their pool such as toys that you can hide treats in or even throw a few frozen pieces of fruit/ veg into the pool and create a fishing game for them!

It’s super important to make sure that your pets have free and easy to access fresh water supplies. They can easily become dehydrated in the heat and if they have been panting, their mouths can become quite tacky.

Not all dogs like drinking water from a bowl. Some prefer running water like from a hose or even a drinking fountain!

When going for walks, ensure to bring a bottle of water for your doggo to take water breaks and stay hydrated (and cool).
